Chromatic Triptych

This is the final assignment for my students at SUNY Oneonta in the Intro to Design course. The students elaborate, or build upon, the visual concepts from the Achromatic Design project and expand the original painting into either two or three panels. Students are able to include the original black and white painting or make three completely new panels, but in the end, the students submit a triptych, or 3 panel painting. The new, color, panels are based on the shapes, patterns, and textures that they used in their Achromatic Design Challenge however, the aim is to make a new composition which integrates concepts of color that they learn from sketchbook exercises in tandem with this longer term project.
